Peter Pettingill will speak about his extensive research when writing about the Aug, 1905 death of Mattie Hackett, who was murdered on her parents’ farm in Readfield. In his historical novel, Pettingill recounts the murder, including the actual investigators, the townspeople who testified and the suspects.
